The NFL will continue its quest to take over the nightly TV ratings in 2024.
During commissioner Roger Goodell's news conference in Las Vegas ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, he announced that the Philadelphia Eagles will play at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil on Friday, Sept. 6 as part of the league's Week 1 kickoff.
The season will still begin the night before in either San Francisco or Kansas City, giving the league four prime-time games during Week 1, also including games on Sunday and Monday night.
This will be the first Week 1 game played on a Friday night since the Los Angeles Rams defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 34-13 on September 18, 1970.
In 2023, the league also hosted its first game on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.
Next season, the Eagles have nine home games. They play their NFC East rivals, the Commanders, Cowboys and Giants, as well as 2023 playoff teams the Browns, Steelers and Packers.
Philadelphia also has scheduled home games against the Jaguars, Falcons and Panthers.
The league already announced the Jags and Panthers will play international games in 2024, making them unlikely picks for the 2024 Friday night opener.

The Cowboys would obviously be the highest-profile opponent, but the Packers and Steelers are two other iconic franchises that could draw a huge international audience.
